JENIS-JENIS SOCKET PROCESSOR

Adapun beberapa pengertian dari processor antara lain Processor adalah sebagai otak dan pusat pengendali computer. Processor adalah sebuah IC yang mengontrol keseluruhan jalannya sebuah sistem komputer dan digunakan sebagai pusat (kontrol). Processor terletak pada socket yang telah disediakan oleh motherboard, dan dapat diganti dengan processor yang lain asalkan sesuai dengan socket yang ada pada motherboard. 

Salah satu yang sangat besar pengaruhnya terhadap kecepatan komputer tergantung dari jenis dan kecepatan processor. Prosesor adalah chip yang sering disebut “Microprocessor” yang sekarang ukurannya sudah mencapai Gigahertz (GHz) yang sangat bergantung pada FSB (frequuency side bus) dan faktor pengali (multiplier). Merk processor yang banyak beredar dipasaran adalah AMD, Apple, Cyrix VIA, IBM, IDT, dan Intel.

Perkembangan processor  akan menghasilkan jenis socket yang diperlukan sesuai pin yang tersedia pada processor. Adapun jenis dan penggunaan socket processor akan diuraikan sebagai berikut :

Pentium 3, : 450 MHz – 1,33 GHz
Celeron : 266 MHz – 433 MHz
